LA JOLLA, Calif. – The No. 4 Cardinal moved to 5-0 on the season this afternoon, shutting down No. 13 UCSD to win 15-4. Max Zelikov led the attack with six goals, while West Temkin made 11 saves in the defensive clinic.
The Card jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first period, but pulled away for an 8-2 halftime lead after holding the Tritons scoreless in the second. Three of Zelikov’s six goals came in the first half, plus two scores from Ben Forer and contributions from Guido Leonardi, Gianpiero Di Martire and Chase McFarland.
Zelikov added two more scores in the third, joined by Alex Gheorghe, Ryan Ohl and Botond Balogh to make it a 13-4 lead heading into the final period.
Stanford only scored twice in the final period, with goals coming from Daniel Mnatsakanian and Zelikov, but allowed none to ice the win.
The 11 saves from Temkin are a season high, as the Card’s four goals allowed were a team best in 2025.
Zelikov moves into the team lead with 14 goals scored.
The Cardinal is back in Los Angeles next weekend for the MPSF Invitational, running Friday through Sunday. All three games will be streamed on Overnght, with the schedule announced on Wednesday.
