Top Competition Set for MPSF Invitational

Card to compete in tournament with No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 USC and No. 3 California

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 4 Stanford Cardinal has a full slate this weekend, heading to LA for the Overnght MPSF Invitational. First up is a Friday bout with No. 15 Santa Clara. The 5-0 Card will play two games on Saturday, and one game on Sunday, with times and opponents to be determined.

The tournament field features 16 teams, 14 of which are currently ranked in the top 17 in the country according to the ACWPCA poll. Eight of the top 10 teams in the country are in attendance, including No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 USC who are co-hosting the tournament.

Stanford already boasts four ranked wins this season, including a pair of wins last weekend over No. 19 UCSB and No. 13 UCSD.


VET IN THE CAGE » Temkin returns in the cage after a Second Team All-America and First Team All-MPSF season in 2024. Temkin stopped a season-best 11 shots in last Sunday's 15-4 win over UCSD.

The senior was at his best in big games last season, stopping 16 shots in the MPSF third-place game, and eight in the NCAA Championship quarterfinal against No. 5 Princeton.

BACK FOR YEAR TWO » The sophomore class had a strong introduction in 2024. Ryan Ohl, Botond Balogh, Ben Forer and Will Schneider combined for 120 points (79 goals 41 assists).

The class has already started hot in 2025, with Balogh and Max Zelikov tied for the team lead with 19 points. Ohl is right behind them, tied for third with 12.

STRONG INTRODUCTION » Transfer Gianpiero Di Martire has introduced himself in a big way, currently third on the team in goals with eight in four games.

SUMMER ABROAD » Ohl and junior Alex Gheorghe each competed at the World Aquatics World Championships in Croatia this summer. Ohl represented the US, while Gheorghe competed for Romania.
