ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Cardinal cruised to a victory at this weekend's Women's Atlantic Coast Championship round one regatta, taking first in the 18-team competition with 61 points.
“I could not be more proud of the win at Navy. Not because we won, but the way the team is growing together so early," said head coach Chris Klevan. "Our newcomers are adding a spark immediately and new leaders are stepping up.”
Stanford's A boat featured Sophie Fisher and Alice Schmid for the first six races, before Ashtyn Tierney swapped in for Schmid for the final three. The boat took first in the A division, winning twice to finish with 32 points.
The B boat featured Samara Walsh and Kit Harned for the first six races, before Schmid took over for Walsh in the final three. The boat finished first in the B division with 29 points, topping three races.
Next weekend features three competitions, as the Card is set for the PCCSC Match Race Championships, Open ACC round one, and the Stu Nelson Trophy.
