FORT WORTH, Texas — Stanford men’s golf wrapped up its quick trip to The Lone Star State as the Cardinal completed the final round at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab on Tuesday afternoon. Stanford placed 11th out of a tough field that included 13 ranked teams heading into the week.
Leading the way for Stanford, TK Chantananuwat continued his strong start to the season, rattling off three birdies to finish the round at even-par and 1-over for the tournament. Chantnanuwat hit the turn toward the front nine at even-par after a hiccup on 18 before earning two birdies in his final nine holes as he placed eighth overall.
Jay Leng took second among the Cardinal, earning four birdies on the day to finish with a 2-over, 72 on Tuesday. Leng battled back from two early bogeys with birdies on holes 14 and 16 to hit the turn to the front nine at even-par. Though Leng found himself at 1-under through 12 holes, the latter half of the front nine forced him into three bogeys as his 2-over card on Tuesday saw him place T-17th overall at 3-over.
Nathan Wang and Edan Cui were the final two scores counted for the Cardinal on Tuesday as both golfers turned in 6-over, 76 cards to end the day. Wang, who finished the tournament in T-45th overall at 9-over, earned two birdies in his final 18 holes after a tough opening stretch to start the day. Cui, meanwhile, shot strong in his final nine holes after a tough start to the day, ending the tournament in T-61st place at 13-over.
Dean Greyserman served as the reserve score for Tuesday's round, rattling off one birdie on the day en route to a 8-over, 78 card. Greyserman, who did well to combat a 6-over card heading toward the front nine, continued to battle through the day as he ended the 54-hole tournament at 19-over and 71st overall.
Stanford is back in action next week, heading to Long Island for the Hamptons Intercollegiate, hosted by Loyola University (Md.) from Monday, October 6 through Tuesday, October 7.
