Stanford Downs Florida State

Cardinal improves to 6-1 in the ACC

STANFORD, Calif. – Led by Ipar Kurt and Elia Rubin, No. 5 Stanford defeated Florida State, 25-14, 25-13, 22-25, 25-13, Thursday, at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (15-3, 6-1 ACC) hit .313 as a team, while holding Florida State (8-8, 2-5 ACC) to a .065 clip. The Cardinal registered 59 kills, 62 digs, 11.0 blocks and seven aces.

Kurt led all players with a season-high 18 kills on .389 hitting to go with five digs and a block. Rubin recorded her team-best sixth double-double of the season with 12 kills, including six in the second set, and 10 digs. The senior also put down three aces, moving her into sixth place all-time at Stanford.

Setter Logan Parks also notched a double-double, her fourth of the year with 45 assists and 11 digs. The freshman also had four kills, four blocks and an ace. Libero Spencer Etzler, the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Week, eclipse her career-high with 25 digs to go with six assists and an ace.

Opposite Jordyn Harvey finished with 11 kills on a .360 attack percentage, seven digs, four blocks, two assists and an ace. Middle blockers Lizzy Andrew and Erika Sayer each tallied seven kills. Andrew matched her career-high with eight blocks, while Sayer had three.

Senior defensive specialist Anna Pringle collected two digs, while redshirt sophomore Koko Kirsch had a dig and an ace. Making her Cardinal debut was freshman Zaria Queen, who entered the match in the fourth set to serve.

Stanford improves to 3-0 all-time against Florida State and has won 21 of its last 22 matches at Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal closes out the week on Sunday, hosting No 14 Miami for its Pink Match. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. on ACCNX.
