Cardinal Preps For Matchup at Miami

Stanford football hits the road for a Saturday night showdown Oct. 25 against No. 9 Miami at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN

The Opening Kickoff

  • Stanford football hits the road for a Saturday night showdown against No. 9 Miami at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN.
  • Saturday is the second consecutive game for Stanford against a team from the state of Florida. Stanford is 2-1 all-time against teams from the Sunshine State.
  • Stanford enters the game after an upset win at home over Florida State on Oct. 18 during Reunion Homecoming. The win boosted the Cardinal to a 3-0 home record, the team's first 3-0 start at home since 2018.
  • Redshirt freshman Cole Tabb had the best game of his collegiate career against the Seminoles. The Fort Walton Beach, Fla. native carried the ball 28 times and ran for 118 yards and one touchdown to lead Stanford's ground game. On the strength of his first collegiate 100-yard rushing performance, Tabb was named the ACC Running Back and Rookie of the Week.
  • CJ Williams is developing into one of the best wide receivers in the ACC. In his first year on The Farm after transferring from Wisconsin, Williams leads the team in receptions (39) and receiving yards (465). Most of that damage has come in the last four games. Since week four, Williams has 31 catches for 403 yards and two touchdowns. He ranks second in the ACC in receptions and yards during that span.
  • Stanford's defense has allowed the fourth-most trips to the red zone of any team in the country (34), but is seventh in opponents' red zone touchdown percentage (38.2%). That mark leads the ACC.
  • Stanford's offense is averaging 391 yards per game at home, compared to just 280.3 on the road. Scoring has been up at home as well: the Cardinal has scored 80 points at home versus 53 points away from home.
  • Despite having never faced Miami, Stanford has history inside Hard Rock Stadium. The Cardinal won the 2011 Orange Bowl over Virginia Tech 40-12 behind four passing touchdowns from Andrew Luck, three of which went to Coby Fleener. It was Stanford's first bowl victory since 1996 and capped off a 12-win season, a school record.
  • The Cardinal has not won a road game against a ranked team since it beat No. 17 USC 17-3 on Sept. 8, 2021. Since that game, Stanford is 0-9 against ranked teams on the road.
