Newcomers set to join Stanford Softball next fall

STANFORD, Calif. – ­­Paul A. Violich Director of Softball Jessica Allister and her staff have announced the signing of four standout players today.
 
Stanford's incoming class of 2030 consists of Lydia Berent (Boca Raton, Fla.), Marisa Bryson (Woodland, Calif.), Emmaline Humphreys (Westminster, Colo.) and Kale'a Tindal (Santa Clarita, Calif.).

The class as a whole earned the No. 21 spot in both D1 Softball and Softball America's class rankings for 2026.

"We are thrilled to welcome Lydia, Marisa, Emmaline and Kale’a to the Stanford Softball family. Although small in number, this class will bring speed, power and exceptional pitching that will make an immediate impact on our 2027 roster," said Allister. "Most importantly this class is comprised of fantastic young women that are ready to compete for championships on the field and take advantage of a world class education off of it."

Pitcher/Outfield | Boca Raton, Fla. | Cardinal Gibbons HS

  • Miami Herald Player of the Year & Sun Sentinel Player of the Year in 2025
  • Three-time Sun Sentinel All-County First Team (2023-2025)
  • Ranked as the 11th player in the country by Line Drive Media
  • Set single season school records in strikeouts (243) and stolen bases (20)
  • Has competed with Team Canada in the Triple Crown International Challenge three times, earning one silver and two bronze medals

Lydia is a power pitcher with the ability to spin the ball both up and down in the zone. Her athleticism combined with her work ethic mean that her best days are in front of her.

  • Three-time Pioneer High School Team MVP (2023-2025)
  • Two-time West Coast Preps All Sacramento and All Norcal 1st Team selections (2024-2025)
  • Two-time West Coast Preps Player of the Year Finalist (2024-25)
  • #2 Ranked player in NorCal by West Coast Preps in 2025, and #5 in 2024
  • Owns school records in career homers (31), doubles (31), hits (148), RBI (128) and runs (136)
  • Also earned four-year letterwinner on the volleyball team
  • Her older sister, Lauren, played first base at Santa Clara
  • Her uncle, Dustin Pedroia, was a two-time World Series champion with the Boston Red Sox, earning four Gold Gloves, four All-Star selections, the 2007 AL Rookie of the Year Award and the AL MVP award in 2008

Marisa is a sure-handed infielder with a plus arm and special power. Although she primarily plays on the left side, Marisa has the defensive versatility to play anywhere on the field.

  • Ranked as the #17 player in class of 2026 by Line Drive Media, and #22 pitcher by Extra Innings Softball
  • 2025 Granite Peaks League Player of the Year 
  • Three-time All-Conference First Team (2022-23, 2025)
  • Led the state of Colorado in strikeouts (284), strikeouts/inning (2.2) and K:BB ratio (10.5:1) in 2025
  • Led Holy Family HS to 4A State Championship with 5 wins, 68 strikeouts and a 0.46 ERA (2 ER)
  • Owns Holy Family HS all-time records for career ERA (1.21), shutouts (8), K/Inn (1.83), K:BB ratio (7.95:1) and opp. BA (.144)
    • Also boasts single season records for ERA (0.81), shutouts (6), strikeouts (284), K/Inning (2.2), K:BB ratio (10.5:1) and opp. BA (.099)

Emmaline is a fiery competitor in the circle with the skill set to attack all four quadrants in the zone as well as a devastating change of speeds. Stanford fans are going to love watching her compete.

KJ is a dynamic offensive threat from the left side of the plate with great range in the outfield. She will impact the game by generating runs with both her speed and power.
