STANFORD, Calif. - John Kosty, The Birkhofer Family Men's Volleyball Head Coach, and his staff have announced the signings of four high school standouts who will join the men's volleyball team next fall.
Stanford's incoming class consists of Peter Debiec (Cary, N.C.), Declan Flanagan (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.), Aleksey Mikhailenko (Mequon, Wis.) and Lincoln Myers (Madison, Wis.).
Peter Debiec • 6-9 • Middle Blocker • Cary, N.C. • Green Level HS
Coach Kosty on Debiec: “Peter’s arm and ability to score from the middle are impressive. Beyond his physical tools, he’s a high-character student who truly understands the balance between academics and athletics. We see him as a driven, motivated player with the potential to develop into a standout contributor for our program.”
Declan Flanagan • 6-8 • Outside Hitter • Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. • Torrey Pines HS
Coach Kosty on Flanagan: “Declan brings a rare combination of length, athleticism, and ball control for an outside hitter of his size. His work ethic stands out, and having been part of winning teams, he understands the importance of putting the team first. For us, having someone who can execute technically and perform consistently under pressure the way he does will be incredibly valuable.”
Aleksey Mikhailenko • 6-8 • Outside Hitter • Mequon, Wis. • Homestead HS
Coach Kosty on Mikhailenko: “Aleksey brings a rare combination of a powerful arm and genuine volleyball IQ. Having represented USA Volleyball at the U19 level, he already understands how to compete at the international level, and that experience will serve him well in our gym. We’re excited about his ability to impact the outside position both as a hitter and a receiver.”
Lincoln Myers • 6-8 • Middle Blocker • Madison, Wis. • Madison Memorial HS
Coach Kosty on Myers: “Lincoln is one of the top middle blocker recruits in the country. He has tremendous physicality and athletic upside. He moves exceptionally well laterally for his size, reads the game at a high level, and sets up as a strong, disciplined blocker. With his athleticism and work ethic, we believe he’ll quickly develop into a dominant presence at the net.”
