Men’s Basketball Moves to 4-0, Downs Louisiana 93-66

Stanford posts its second consecutive unbeaten start through four games

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men’s basketball continued its winning ways at Maples Pavilion to open the season, defeating Louisiana, 93-66. Stanford improves to 4-0 on the season with the result, marking the program’s second-consecutive 4-0 start under Kyle Smith.

Ebuka Okorie led the scoring with 26 points, including three 3-pointers and 11 free throws, while dishing a game-high five assists. The contest was the fourth consecutive 20-point outing for Okorie, making him the first Cardinal freshman to accomplish the feat since Brook Lopez in 2007. The 11 made free throws tie the most made by an ACC player this season.

Chisom Okpara notched his second 20-point game of the season, scoring a season-high 22 points on a 7-for-10 mark from the floor and 7-for-7 tally at the free throw line. Cameron Grant scored a career-high 15 points, going 5-for-11 from beyond the arc. Grant is the first Stanford player with five threes in a game since Benny Gealer made five against SMU on March 1, 2025.

Stanford held Louisiana (1-4) to just 2-for-9 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. The two made threes were just the second time in the last three-plus seasons that Stanford has allowed two or fewer, along with the Cardinal’s home win over Miami last season on Jan. 22, 2025.

Stanford led early, 11-5, through 7:30 of play, but Louisiana managed to take a 22-21 lead with 5:45 remaining in the half. Grant made a pair of 3-pointers to spark a Cardinal 12-0 run to take a double-digit lead, and Stanford ended the first half on a 19-4 run to lead by 15 at the break, 40-25.

The Cardinal led by double digits for the duration of the second period, leading by as many as 30 points. Okorie scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half, while Okpara scored 11 of his 22, and Grant added a trio of triples to secure the victory.

The 93 points scored were the most for Stanford under Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men’s Basketball Kyle Smith.
