ORLANDO – Sophomore Valerie Glozman and freshman Alyssa Ahn were both ousted in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship on Tuesday.
Glozman, who won the ITA All-American Championships to start the fall and was the tournament’s No. 1 seed, lost to Baylor’s Na Dong, 6-3, 6-7 (1), 6-4. Glozman was playing her first singles match in nearly two months and saved three match points to take the second set but was unable to keep the momentum going in the third. The result snapped her 14-match collegiate win streak, her last loss coming on March 28 last season.
Ahn played another three setter, falling to Florida’s Gabia Paskauskas for the second time this fall, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. The two also met in the consolation draw at ITA All-Americans in late September, with Paskauskas also winning that one in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
In her first fall on The Farm, Ahn went 10-3 overall, 5-3 against ranked opponents, and won the ITA Northwest Regional singles title.
