PHILADELPHIA – The fourth-ranked Cardinal finished a strong opening weekend of the 2025-26 season today, topping No. 2 Princeton at the end of a 2-1 overall weekend.
Stanford opened up the young season with a dominant 8-1 win at No. 9 Drexel on Friday. Freshmen Zhi-Xuan Goh and Avery Park picked up wins in their first collegiate competition, with Goh taking a straight-set win on court two and Park winning a five-set battle on court eight.
The Cardinal dropped the Saturday bout with No. 3 Penn, falling 8-1. Tiana Parasrampuria picked up a four-set win on court eight, and Avery Park won in five on court 10. Eight of the 10 matchups went the distance in the closely contested matchup.
In the weekend finale, the Card took down No. 2 Princeton 6-3. Madison Ho, Maeve Baker, Parasrampuria and Khushi Kukadia swept courts six through nine, with Goh and Mariana Narvaez Dardon winning on courts three and four, respectively.
Parasrampuria picked up another win to finish the weekend unbeaten at 2-0.
The win over the second-ranked Tigers marked the first time Stanford has beaten a top-two team in the CSA coaches poll since 2019, when the Card beat then-No. 2 Princeton to finish third at the CSA National Championships.
The Card’s next competition isn’t until after the new year, when the program hosts a pair of home games. Stanford takes on Hamilton on Tuesday, Jan. 6, then Trinity (CT) on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
