Back-To-Back NCAA Trips for the Cardinal

Stanford to host No. 8 UC Davis on Friday, Dec. 5 at 6:00 p.m.

STANFORD, Calif. – For the second season in a row, the Stanford Cardinal is set to compete for an NCAA Championship in home waters. The Card earned an at-large spot in the eight-team tournament this morning, collecting the third-overall seed. Stanford’s first round matchup is set with No. 8 UC Davis on Friday, Dec. 5 at 6:00 p.m. PT.

Stanford is in the tournament for the 36th time in program history, and second time under Dunlevie Family director of men’s water polo Brian Flacks. The Card enters the tournament with 11 NCAA Championships, the most recent coming in 2019.

At last season’s NCAA Championship, the Cardinal took down Princeton in the first round, falling in the semifinals to eventual champion UCLA.

Stanford posted a third-place finish at this weekend’s MPSF Championship, falling in the semifinals to No. 2 USC before taking down No. 4 California 15-12 in the third-place game.

The rest of the field includes fellow at-large bid No. 1 UCLA, and conference champions in No. 2 USC, No. 5 Fordham, No. 8 UC Davis, No. 9 San Jose State, No. 14 Princeton, and Concordia.
