Banerjee Set to Represent Team USA

Will play at the upcoming Master'U BNP Paribas Championship in Reims, France

STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Samir Banerjee has been chosen to represent Team USA at the upcoming Master'U BNP Paribas Championship in Reims, France.

The 18th edition of "The World Event of University Tennis" will be played from December 5-7 with eight nations set to compete in Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Switzerland, and the United States. Each nation will have players who actively compete within a university system.

Along with Banerjee, Team USA selections include Valerie Glozman (Stanford), Reese Brantmeier (North Carolina), Aidan Kim (Ohio State), Nicolas Kotzen (Columbia), and Luciana Perry (Ohio State). The United States has won five consecutive titles at the event.

Banerjee helped lead Stanford to a 26-6 overall record a year ago - the Cardinal's most wins since 2003 - and its fourth consecutive NCAA Super Regional, first NCAA quarterfinal since 2012 and first semifinal since 2003. Stanford also advanced to the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, the first semifinals appearance since 2018, and won the ACC Championship in its debut season.

He ended his junior season ranked No. 11 in the country in singles and No. 40 in doubles, going 13-8 in singles and 19-11 in doubles with 15 combined ranked victories. Banerjee was named an ITA All-American and second team CSC Academic All-American, and he was picked to the All-ACC first team.

Matches will consist of two women’s singles matches, two men’s singles matches, one women’s doubles match, one men’s doubles match, and one mixed doubles match. The country that wins four of the seven matches is declared the victor and advances on in the tournament.
