Senior Day Success

No. 5 Stanford defeats Georgia Tech, 3-1

STANFORD, Calif. – Elia Rubin and Jordyn Harvey registered double-doubles to lead No. 5 Stanford in a 25-22, 18-25, 25-13, 25-22 win over Georgia Tech, Wednesday, at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (26-4, 17-2 ACC) hit .314 as a team, while holding Georgia Tech (16-12, 11-8 ACC) to a .206 clip. The Cardinal remains in a tie for first place in the ACC with No. 4 Pittsburgh.

On Senior Day, Rubin hit .417 with 13 kills and 10 digs for her team-leading ninth double-double of the season. The outside hitter also recorded three blocks and an ace - bringing her career total to 146. Harvey also finished with 13 kills on .346 hitting and 14 digs for her fourth double-double of the year.

The Cardinal recognized Rubin and fellow senior Anna Pringle during a postmatch ceremony. Pringle, a defensive specialist from La Jolla, finished with four digs.

Freshman Logan Parks started the match at setter, totaling 18 assists, four digs and a block in two sets played. Sophomore Taylor Yu replaced Parks in the second completed the match with 33 assists, two digs, two blocks and a kill.

Outside hitter Julia Blyashovn recorded 12 kills, two digs, a block and an ace, while middle blocker Lizzy Andrew had nine kills and five blocks. Middle blocker Erika Sayer added eight kills on .429 hitting and two blocks.

Libero Spencer Etzler notched six digs, three assists and an ace against the Yellow Jackets. Redshirt sophomore Koko Kirsch chipped in with two digs and an assist.

Georgia Tech was led by Anna Fiedorowicz who had a match-high 16 kills to go with seven digs, four blocks and two aces. Stanford improved to 6-0 all-time against the Yellow Jackets.

Stanford closes out the regular season on Saturday at No. 7 Louisville with a chance to clinch at least a share of the ACC title.
