All-Conference Cara

Sambeth nabs Stanford's second-consecutive postseason conference honor with ACC Second-Team selection

STANFORD, Calif. — Following a successful second season in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Stanford’s Cara Sambeth has been tabbed to the All-ACC Second Team, the conference announced on Monday.

Sambeth, who was named to the All-ACC Second Team a season ago, has appeared in all but one match this season while starting in 12 contests entering Tuesday’s ACC Quarterfinal matchup. She currently sits second on the Cardinal in minutes this season with 779 minutes on the pitch.

Offensively, the senior has nabbed four points on the campaign courtesy of a 1-2-4 line. The Munich, Germany native earned her first point of the season with an assist against Ohio before earning the lone helper on Jenny O’Grady’s goal against Louisville in Stanford’s first conference win of the season. Sambeth later tallied her lone goal of the season in the 4-1 win over Davidson.

On the defensive end, Sambath has helped anchor a Stanford defensive corps that has combined to earn three shutouts this season while holding the opposition to 1 goal or fewer in eight matches.

Sambeth’s All-Conference nod is the fourth of her collegiate career having earned America East second-team honors in 2021 and 2022 and a nod on the All-ACC Second Team last season. She had also earned honors on the America East All-Tournament team in 2022 and the America East All-Rookie team in 2021.

Stanford beings postseason play with a matchup in the ACC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 4 at 3:30 p.m. ET / 12:30 p.m. PT against the No. 2 seed Virginia Cavaliers.
