HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Four members of the Stanford beach volleyball team accepted invitations to compete in the fourth annual Women's Pairs Championship at the AVCA Beach National Championships, Nov. 7-9, held at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville, Ala. The pair of junior Brooke Rockwell and sophomore Avery Jackson enters as the No. 2 seed, while sophomore Charlotta Bell and senior Kelly Belardi enter the 64-pair tournament as the No. 3 seed.
Schools have been awarded bids for the pairs event based on their performance from the previous spring season. Stanford's coaching staff determined which student-athletes would compete in the pairs championship. Chosen pairs were seeded the week of the championship using current TruVolley rankings.
Jackson and Rockwell both return to the white sands of Huntsville, Ala., for their second and third appearances in the tournament, respectively. Rockwell brings a record of excellence to the tournament after earning a third-place finish as a sophomore with partner then-sophomore Ruby Sorra in 2024 and a second-place finish in the tournament as a freshman with partner then-senior Xolani Hodel in 2023.
The Cardinal is one of only two programs (Cal Poly) to have both entries seeded in the tournament’s top-10 pairs. Stanford is the only team at the event to have both pairs ranked in the top-3 pairs.
The national championship competition will consist of three days of 64-pair bracket play. Winning keeps you in the championship bracket, while a loss moves you to a lower bracket to play out to place.
Jackson/Rockwell start action at the tournament against No. 63-seed Tampa’s Fredette-Huffman/Peterson at 8:30 a.m. PT.
Bell/Belardi kick things off in Huntsville with a matchup against No. 62-seed Houston Christian’s Landmark/Zeigler at 9:45 a.m. PT.
Updates throughout the weekend can be found on the team's X and Instagram accounts.
Live results for each match can be found here. Broadcast information for all three days of play can be found here.
A recap of the Cardinal's efforts in Huntsville will be posted after the event concludes.
