SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 3 Cardinal topped No. 17 Santa Clara this evening, winning 17-9 to move to 13-6 on the season. Four different players finished with multiple goals for Stanford,
Stanford took the early lead, with Ben Forer scoring twice in the first period for a 5-2 Cardinal lead. Max Zelikov, Will Schneider and Gianpiero Di Martire each added in early goals of their own.
The Card caught fire in the second period, rattling off six goals to take a commanding 11-3 lead into halftime. Zelikov and Schneider scored their second goals of the game in the period, and were joined by Alex Gheorghe, CJ Indart, Ryan Ohl and Daniel Mnatsakanian in the scorers column.
Santa Clara cut into the deficit in the third period, but Stanford still led 14-7 heading into the final period. The Cardinal finished with a 3-2 advantage in the fourth to ice the 17-9 win.
Gheorghe and Zelikov each finished with hat tricks, and Schneider and Forer each contributed two scores.
Zelikov added a pair of assists to finish with five points, trailing only Di Martire’s six (one goal, five assists) to lead all scorers.
West Temkin finished the game with just seven goals allowed and seven saves. Harrison Rohlen finished the game with three saves, allowing just two goals.
The Cardinal closes out the home schedule on Sunday, hosting No. 6 Pacific for Senior Day at Avery Aquatic Center. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. PT, and can be streamed on Overnght.
