STANFORD, Calif. – Led by Jordyn Harvey, No. 5 Stanford swept No. 15 North Carolina, 25-22, 25-17, 25-16, Friday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (21-3, 12-1 ACC) hit .333 as a team, while holding North Carolina (17-5, 10-3 ACC) to a .114 clip. The Cardinal racked up 44 kills, 40 digs, 13.0 blocks and four aces.
Harvey hit a season-high .560 with 14 kills on 25 errorless swings to go with six digs, four blocks and an ace. Senior Elia Rubin added 12 kills, four digs and a season-best five blocks. The outside hitter also had an ace, tying her with Jenna Gray (2016-19) for the school career record in the rally-scoring era with 136.
Freshman Logan Parks started the match at setter, totaling 19 assists and eight digs. Sophomore Taylor Yu replaced Parks in the second and finished with 17 assists, two digs, two blocks and a kill.
Middle blocker Erika Sayer turned in nine kills on .667 hitting and four blocks. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew registered a career-high nine blocks and five kills, while outside hitter Julia Blyashov chipped in with three kills, four digs and a block.
Libero Spencer Etzler collected nine digs, three assists and an ace. Defensive specialist Anna Pringle tallied six digs and an ace.
North Carolina was led by opposite Chelsea Thorpe’s 14 kills on .379 hitting. The Cardinal improved to 4-1 all-time against the Tar Heels.
Stanford is back in action on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Duke.
