STANFORD, Calif. - A pair of Cardinal were selected in the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft on Thursday afternoon.
Will Cleary was selected with the 22nd pick in the draft by Charlotte FC, becoming the highest Stanford draft pick since Ousseni Bouda, who was selected eighth overall in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes.
A senior captain, Cleary guided Stanford to the top of the national polls for five weeks this season, as well as a fourth consecutive appearance in the third round of the NCAA Tournament. In addition to leading a stour Cardinal backline, Cleary was one of Stanford's most productive defenders with four goals and 11 points on the year.
Bank was selected in the second round with the 35th overall pick by the LA Galaxy after a strong redshirt junior campaign in which he recorded career highs in goals (2), shots (12), shots on goal (4), and game-winning goals (2). The Bakersfield, Calif., native also contributed to a Cardinal defense that tallied seven shutouts and a 0.85 goals against average.
Bank joins his twin brother, Fletcher, as an MLS draftee, as Fletcher was selected by Toronto FC in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft.
