SAN FRANCISCO – Courtney Ogden scored 20, Lara Somfai had her fifth double-double, and Stanford used another strong fourth quarter to beat Oregon 64-53 in the Invisalign Bay Area Women’s Classic at Chase Center on Sunday.

The Cardinal (11-2), which led for more than 36 minutes, was up one after Ari Long made a jumper to start the fourth quarter for the Ducks (12-2), but that was as close as they’d get. With just over eight minutes to go, a Chloe Clardy midrange floater hit back iron and was rebounded by Long before Ogden knocked it out of her hands from behind. The ball popped right up to Clardy who finished through contact and hit the free throw to complete the 3-point play.

Long would make another bucket on the next possession with 7:56 on the clock, but that would be Oregon’s last field goal for more than six minutes. The Ducks wouldn’t convert again until Katie Fiso made a layup with 1:29 left.

Ogden and Somfai each had seven points in the fourth quarter, as the Cardinal outscored Oregon 20-12. The two put an exclamation point on the win when Ogden broke down her defender with 21 seconds on the clock, dribbled into the paint and drew three, and kicked it to a wide open Somfai in the right corner. The freshman nailed the 3-pointer to push Stanford’s lead to 12, 62-50.

Stanford closed the game by making its final five shots in the last 90 seconds, which began with back-to-back Hailee Swain layups speeding past the defense.

The win was a Quad 1 victory for the Cardinal and comes just two days after Stanford picked up its first ranked win of the year on Friday night against No. 22 Washington.

The reigning ACC Co-Player of the Week, Ogden also had four rebounds, four assists and four steals to go with her game-high 20 points. She’s averaging 15.0 points on 66 percent shooting in the last four games.

Somfai had 14 points and 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double in her first 13 collegiate games. Her five double-doubles are the most for a Stanford freshman since Kaylee Johnson had five in 2014-15.

Clardy added 11 points and a game-high five assists and Swain had 10. Back from a one-game absence, Nunu Agara pulled down 11 rebounds, her fourth game in double figures this season.

Stanford returns to action next Sunday when it costs Cornell at 1 p.m. for its nonconference finale.
