NASHVILLE, Tenn. - No. 9 Stanford came away with a split at the Journeymen Collegiate Duals on Saturday, defeating North Dakota State, 25-15, before falling to No. 1 Penn State, 42-0.
Stanford (2-3) won six of the 10 bouts against North Dakota State (1-5), including three by bonus points.
Redshirt sophomore Lorenzo Norman made his season debut against the Bison, pinning Tyler Secoy in 2:33 at 174 pounds.
True freshman Angelo Posada, ranked No. 19 at 197 pounds, also secured a pin, defeating Devin Wasley in 4:36. He is now 7-4 on the season.
No. 5 Daniel Cardenas registered an 11-2 major decision over No. 21 Gavin Drexler at 157 pounds. The redshirt junior improved to 7-2 with the win.
After dropping the opening bout to the Bison, Stanford reeled off three straight decisions to take the lead for good. No. 6 Tyler Knox got things started with a 1-0 decision over No 29 Tristan Dougherty at 133 pounds.
No. 15 Jack Consiglio followed up with an 8-3 decision over Michael Olson at 141 pounds. Redshirt freshman Aden Valencia, ranked No. 14 at 149 pounds, then earned an 8-2 decision over No. 24 Max Petersen.
Penn State (6-0) won its 77th straight dual meet, setting a new NCAA Division I record for consecutive victories.
Stanford is back in action on Dec. 29-30 at the Midlands Championships in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
