Sambeth Named All-West Region

Stanford redshirt senior nabs second consecutive All-Region honor

STANFORD, Calif. — For the second consecutive year, Stanford backer Cara Sambeth has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-West Region Second Team, the organization announced Wednesday.

Sambeth, who was named to the NFHCA DI Collegiate Senior Team earlier this postseason, earns her second All-West Region honor during her career and becomes the first Cardinal to be named All-Region in consecutive years since Corinne Zanolli earned the accolade in four-consecutive seasons from 2017-2020. Sambeth’s nomination is the third under Susan Ewing York Director of Women’s Field Hockey head coach Roz Ellis

Also earning a nod on the All-ACC Second Team this season, Sambeth helped guide Stanford to seven wins while earning four points across 16 contests. Sambeth opened her tab with an assist in the 2-1 win over Ohio before assisting on Jenny O’Grady’s tally in the win over Louisville. Sambeth snagged her lone goal of the season in the 4-1 win at Davidson.

A native of Munich, Germany, Sambeth ends her time on The Farm with eight goals and seven assists, totalling 23 points across a stellar four-year tenure. Sambeth tied for the team lead in goals in 2024 and has earned points in every season during her Stanford career. Defensively, Sambeth helped the Cardinal to two shutouts in 2025 and helped Stanford limit the opposition to one goal or less in six contests this past year.
