LAS VEGAS - Nico Provo, Jack Consiglio and Daniel Cardenas advanced to the semifinals of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, Friday, at the Westgate Resort and Casino.
Stanford sits in second place as a team with 67 points. Iowa State (107.5) leads the field going into the final day of competition.
Provo, who won CKLV in 2023, made his season debut on Friday. Ranked 11th nationally at 125 pounds, he registered a 2-1 decision in tiebreakers over No. 16 Marc-Anthony McGowan of Princeton to advance to the semifinals, where he will meet No. 15 Maximo Renteria of Oregon State on Saturday.
Consiglio, a redshirt freshman, knocked off No. 19 Greyson Clark of Purdue in the second round to reach the quarterfinals at 141 pounds. There, he turned in a 10-3 decision over Air Force's Carter Nogle. Coniglio will take on No. 4 Anthony Echemendia of Iowa State in the semifinals.
Ranked No. 4 at 157 pounds, Cardenas recorded a pair of technical falls to move into the quarterfinals. He outlasted No. 25 Cameron Catrabone of Michigan, 15-12, to secure his spot in the semifinals, where he will face No. 3 Vinny Zerban of Iowa State.
No. 6 Tyler Knox (133 pounds) and No. 12 Aden Valencia (149 pounds) both fell in the quarterfinals. Knox medically forfeited out of the tournament, while Valencia rebounded with a technical fall over Oregon State's Noah Tolentino and remains alive the consolation bracket.
True freshman 197-pounder Angelo Posada is also alive in the consolation bracket after dropping his opening match to seventh-ranked Bennett Berge of South Dakota State, 3-1.
The semifinals start at 10 a.m. PT on FloWrestling. The finals are slated for 3 p.m. PT in Las Vegas.
