CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Stanford women’s gymnastics freshman Ana Bărbosu won her first career Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Weekly Award, the conference announced Tuesday. After Stanford's second-best season-opening performance since at least 2000 at Denver, Bărbosu was named the conference's Newcomer of the Week.
In her first-ever appearance in NCAA gymnastics, Bărbosu won the all-around competition with a total of 39.400, highlighted by a 9.900 on beam and scores of 9.800 or better on all four apparatuses. Bărbosu’s collegiate introduction marked the best debut by a first-year Stanford gymnast in the all-around competition since at least 2000. With her efforts at Denver, Bărbosu earned five top-four finishes, making her the only ACC all-around gymnast to finish top-4 or better on all events in the 2026 season.
Stanford wraps up its season-opening two-week road trip Sunday, taking on UNC inside Carmichael Arena at 1 p.m. PT. The Cardinal’s first ACC matchup of 2026 is scheduled to be televised on ACC Network with Jack Kizer and Trinity Thomas on the call.
