Stanford Settles For Homestand Split

Jeremy Dent-Smith scored a team-high 18 points in Stanford's 80-50 loss

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford’s bid for a homestand sweep of ranked opponents came up short, as No. 6/6 Duke defeated the Cardinal 80-50 on Saturday at Maples Pavilion.

Fresh off Wednesday’s 95-90 upset of No. 14/15 North Carolina, Stanford was looking to become one of seven teams in the country to secure at least five Quad 1 victories.

Instead, the Cardinal (14-5, 3-3 ACC) – playing in front of a sellout crowd on The Farm for the first time since a 99-68 rout of USC on Feb. 10, 2024 – suffered only its third loss over the last 10 games.

Jeremy Dent-Smith scored a game-high 18 points (7-15 FG, 3-8 3FG) for Stanford, which was short-handed while playing its second consecutive game without Chisom Okpara.

Cameron Boozer’s double-double of 30 points and 14 rebounds led the way for Duke (16-2, 6-0 ACC), which led wire-to-wire and built a 35-19 advantage at halftime. The Blue Devils also cashed in at the charity stripe, connecting on 20-28 chances while the Cardinal was just 6-10.

Making its first appearance at Maples Pavilion, Duke shot 56 percent from the field and held a 35-29 rebounding edge. The Blue Devils also scored 22 points off turnovers and produced a 44-20 advantage of points in the paint.

AJ Rohosy hauled down a season-high 11 rebounds to go along with eight points for the Cardinal, which bounced back to shoot 40 percent over the second half.

Ebuka Okorie, who scored a school freshman record 36 points against the Tar Heels, finished with nine points on 3-9 shooting in 32 minutes. Okorie was held to single digits for only the second time this season.

Stanford completes its homestand on Saturday, Jan. 24, hosting California in a 5 p.m. tip at Maples Pavilion.
