Stanford Shines on Floor, Beam in Win at UNC

Roberts wins all-around title as Stanford earns first conference victory of 2026

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Led by the nation’s tied-for-second-best floor rotation, the NCAA season’s third-best beam team total and a season-high 39.600 all-around performance from senior Anna Roberts, Stanford women’s gymnastics won its first ACC dual meet of the year inside Carmichael Arena, topping UNC 197.225–196.400 Sunday afternoon.

Roberts earned her first all-around title of the season, highlighted by a nearly perfect career-best 9.975 on floor to claim the apparatus title. Sophomore Ui Soma captured the bars title with a season-best 9.925, while Roberts, juniors Sienna Robinson and Temple Landry, and freshman Ana Bărbosu shared the beam title with matching scores of 9.925.

Stanford opened the meet on bars with an impressive rotation, improving its team total from 49.050 in the season opener to a 49.425 at UNC. Soma anchored the rotation with a season-best 9.925, while Roberts posted a 9.900 in the fourth position. Bărbosu recorded a career-best 9.875 in the fifth spot, and Robinson matched that score in the third position. Leadoff redshirt freshman Levi Jung-Ruivivar and senior Ava Sorrento rounded out the lineup with scores of 9.850.

After one rotation, Stanford held a 0.300 lead, 49.425–49.125.

The Cardinal moved to vault for the second rotation, posting a team total of 48.775. Freshman Summer Gronski highlighted the event with a 9.825 in the third spot, just one week after earning a 6.300 in her collegiate debut. Roberts scored a 9.800 in the anchor position, Soma added a 9.775 in the fourth spot and Bărbosu recorded a 9.725 in the second position. Sophomore Alana Walker opened the rotation with a 9.650, the final counting score.

Stanford maintained its 0.300 advantage heading into the second half of the meet.

The nation’s tied-for-second-best floor rotation of 49.475 was paced by Roberts’ 9.975. Barbosu anchored the lineup with a career-best 9.900, while Robinson and Walker each posted 9.875s. In her season debut on the event, senior Taralyn Nguyen scored a 9.850.

The Cardinal’s lead grew to 0.575 after three rotations.

Stanford closed the meet with the NCAA’s third-best beam score this season, totaling 49.550 behind four 9.925 routines from Robinson, Landry, Bărbosu and Roberts. Jung-Ruivivar added a 9.850 in the second position to complete the lineup.

Stanford now turns its attention to three consecutive home meets, beginning with a Sunday afternoon matchup against Clemson on Jan. 25. The Cardinal and Tigers are scheduled to compete at 2 p.m., with the meet streaming on ACC Network Extra.
