Card Only Team Under Par Through Two

Stanford holds the top two spots on the individual leaderboard

TUCSON, Ariz. — The spring portion of the season is underway for top-ranked Stanford women’s golf. The Cardinal made its way to the desert and Tucson Country Club for the Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Arizona. The opening tournament of 2026 proved to be a great test for the entire field, Stanford included, but the Cardinal rose to the occasion, leading the field through the first 36 holes of golf.

Stanford was the only team to finish Monday under par, with the Cardinal shooting 3-under. With temperatures in the low 80s, considerably higher than the rest of the week in Tucson, scores were up across the board. The greens were small and undulating, and overall, the course produced several spots where bounces were large.

A pair of top-25 teams are closest to Stanford. No. 21 Baylor sits in second, 12 strokes back after finishing the day 9-over. No. 22 Arizona sits in third at 11-over. Only six golfers in the field finished under par, while just 11 golfers finished at par or better.

Despite not being in the Stanford lineup, Andrea Revuelta was the top performer amongst all Cardinal and the entire field on Monday. She opened the tournament as the leader through 18 holes, firing a 6-under 66, the lone clean round of the day by a Card. She came out of the gates hot, with four birdies over her first eight holes, including consecutive birdies on 18 and 1, and 4 and 5.

Revuelta endured a different start to her second round, where she lost the lead with bogeys on holes 3 and 4. She rebounded well, with three birdies over her next six holes to recapture the lead that she took into the clubhouse, holding firm with a 9-under (135). Revuelta, who leads the field by five strokes, is aiming for her third collegiate win, but interestingly, her first non-postseason win. She won the 2025 ACC Championship and NCAA Norman Regional as a freshman last year.

Right behind Revuelta at the top of the leaderboard was Paula Martín Sampedro, who was the only Stanford golfer in the lineup to finish under par in the first round. She had to battle back after a rocky start, using five birdies over her final 12 holes to finish with a 4-under 68. Her second round was a bit more in line with the rest of the field, as she finished even at par. Still, she sits in a tie for second at 4-under heading into the final round.

With Revuelta not in the official Stanford lineup, it allowed Anna Song the opportunity to earn a spot for the first time in her collegiate career. The freshman from Los Angeles spent most of the day just outside the top-10 before breaking into it late in the second round. She used a 1-over 73 in the opening round to set the scene for a 1-under 71 in the afternoon portion. Song was able to finish in the red thanks to a birdie on one to close out her day, a round that featured three birdies on her back nine. She is even at par through 36 and tied for seventh in the field.

Joining Song in a tie for seventh is Kelly Xu, who shot an even-72 in both rounds. Meja Örtengren and Megha Ganne are just outside the top-10 in a tie for 13th at 2-over, but both shot 1-under 71s to close out the day.

The final round of the Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 10, with another 7:30 a.m. PT shotgun start. A win for Stanford would mark its third consecutive stroke-play tournament victory, and if Revuelta can hang on for the win, it would mark the third different individual winner for Stanford during the 2025-26 season.
