Jackson and Sorra Named to 2026 AVCA National Collegiate Beach Player of the Year Watch List

Stanford's two honorees are tied for the most by any NCAA Division I Beach program

STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Ruby Sorra and sophomore Avery Jackson have been named to the first-ever watch list for the AVCA 2026 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Player of the Year Award.

Sixteen players were named to the inaugural watch list, including seven additional Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) honorees. USC, UCLA, Texas, Long Beach State, Florida State, and Cal Poly each have two awardees on the list alongside the Cardinal.

Both Sorra and Jackson were key contributors to the Cardinal’s lineup throughout the 2025 season, primarily in the No. 1 and No. 2 pairs, respectively. In her junior season, AVCA First Team All-American and All-MPSF First Team honoree Sorra collected 25 victories, including 16 wins over ranked opponents and five wins over top-five ranked adversaries. As a freshman, Jackson earned AVCA Second Team All-American honors and was named to the All-MPSF First Team, All-MPSF Freshman Team, and MPSF All-Tournament Team, all while posting a 24-8 record with 17 wins over ranked opponents and seven wins over top-five ranked adversaries.

The preseason watch list was compiled by the AVCA Division I Women’s Volleyball Awards Committee.

Stanford opens the 2026 season at the Duke Kahanamoku Beach Volleyball Classic, Feb. 19-21, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Cardinal is set to face California, USC, Hawaii, UCLA, Texas, and LMU while in the Aloha State.
