Another Finals Berth for Gray

Molly Gray reaches an event final for the second consecutive day

ATLANTA - Freshman Molly Gray carried her opening night momentum into day two of the ACC Swimming & Diving Championships, finishing in fifth-place in the 1-meter dive.

Gray, who earned All-ACC honors with a third-place finish in the 3-meter on Sunday, advanced to the 1-meter final after scoring 278.00 in the morning prelims. She opened the competition with an inward 1½ somersault pike (52.80), the second-highest score of the first round, and closed her six-dive effort with a reverse 1½ somersault with 1½ twists for a 48.10 score.

Gray added a 292.20 score to secure her fifth-place finish, highlighted by her inward 1½ somersault pike with her first dive of the evening session, scoring a 54.00 for her best scoring dive of the day. 

Emilie Moore finished 31st in the prelims with a 210.35 six-dive score. Moore started the prelims strong with her forward 2½ somersault pike, scoring a 50.70 for the third-best dive of the opening round. 

After two days of competition, Stanford sits second in the team standings with 81 points, trailing only Miami with 146 points. Diving competition wraps with the platform dive on Tuesday, while swimming begins with the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay.
