Cardinal Blocks Eagles

Stanford improves to 3-0 in MPSF play

IRVINE, Calif. – Registering a season-high 15.0 blocks, No. 18 Stanford swept Concordia, 25-22, 25-23, 25-18, Friday, in MPSF play at the CU Arena.

Stanford (4-8, 3-0 MPSF) hit .274 as a team while holding Concordia (3-8, 0-2 MPSF) to a .066 clip – the second-lowest by a Cardinal opponent this season. Stanford also matched its season-best with six aces.

Opposite Moses Wagner led the team with a match-best 12 kills on .320 hitting, nine digs, five blocks and two aces. Middle blocker Kaumana Carreira hit .556 with five kills on nine errorless swings to go with a match-high six blocks.

Freshman Jacob Little-Phillips controlled the offense, dishing out 34 assists to go with six digs, three blocks, a kill and an ace. Sophomore libero Evan Porter anchored the defense with a match-high 11 digs.

Junior outside hitter Nate Clinton turned in eight kills, four digs, five blocks and two aces in his first appearance since Jan. 10. Senior Theo Snoey added seven kills, seven digs, two blocks and an ace, while middle blocker Luke McFall finished with four kills on .333 hitting and four blocks.

Stanford and Concordia meet again on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. on B1G+.
