STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 12 Cardinal’s seventh inning rally fell just short this afternoon, with Stanford falling to 8-2 on the year with a 4-3 loss to No. 3 Texas.
Texas scored quickly, opening the game with an unearned run in the top of the first. Elena Krause settled in for the second inning, setting the Longhorns down in order.
In the bottom of the second, Kyra Chan got the Cardinal on the board with an RBI double off the left field wall.
Texas retook the lead in the third, with Katie Stewart hitting a three-run homer to make it a 4-1 game.
The Cardinal rallied to cut it to a run, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh, but the late push fell just short. Izzy Cacatian brought the first run in on a sacrifice fly, then Chan also raced home on the play after an error at second base.
