Historic 198.150 Leads No. 10 Cardinal Over No. 26 Oregon State

Stanford breaks 198.000 barrier for just the second time in program history in victory over Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Stanford women’s gymnastics history was made in Corvallis Friday night.

For the first time since 2004 and only the second time in program history, Stanford women’s gymnastics broke the 198.000 barrier with a 198.150-197.250 victory against No. 26 Oregon State inside Gill Coliseum.

The score is Stanford’s second-best team total in program history and matches the third-best team total by any program in the NCAA this season. The Cardinal’s historic mark was bolstered by two perfect scoring vaults, a program record-matching vault team score, and season-high bars and floor rotations, alongside senior Anna Roberts’ 39.875 all-around total, which ties for the best all-around score in the nation this season.

Roberts won each event title (sharing the beam title with Oregon State’s Sophia Esposito) and the all-around crown, while recording her first 10.000 score on any event with her perfect-scoring vault. Sophomore Ui Soma recorded a perfect score on vault with a 9.950, as her Yurchenko full has a 9.950 start value.

The notable evening began on bars as the Cardinal posted a season-best 49.600, tied for the fourth-best bars rotation in program history, led by Roberts’ event-title-winning 9.975. Soma anchored the lineup with a 9.950, while redshirt freshman Levi Jung-Ruivivar led off with a 9.925. Senior Ava Sorrento matched her career-best total with a 9.900 in the second spot of the lineup, and junior Sienna Robinson posted a 9.850.

Next was vault, where a 49.600 team total matched the program’s best-ever rotation on the apparatus, led by a 10.000 from Roberts and 9.950 scores from Soma and senior Taralyn Nguyen. Freshman Summer Gronski set her career-best mark with a 9.925, and sophomore Jaime Dugan posted a 9.775.

On floor, the Cardinal posted its third consecutive 49.500+ score with a season-best 49.550, led by Roberts’ 9.950, a 9.925 from Nguyen, and 9.900s from Jung-Ruivivar and sophomore Alana Walker. Robinson rounded out the rotation with a 9.875.

The night concluded on beam with a 49.400 team score, guided by a 9.950 from Roberts and a 9.925 routine from Jung-Ruivivar that clinched the Cardinal’s 198.150 score. Junior Temple Landry scored a 9.875 in the second position, freshman Jennifer Williams posted a 9.850 in the fourth spot, and senior Claire Dean achieved a 9.800 in the leadoff position.

Stanford returns home for a top-10 battle with former Pac-12 foe No. 5 UCLA March 7. The battle between the Bruins and Cardinal is set for a 2 p.m. start and will be streamed on ACCNX.
