Stanford hit a season-high against Jessup

STANFORD, Calif. – Hitting a season-high .386, No. 17 Stanford opened MPSF conference play with a 25-19, 30-28, 25-21 win over Jessup, Friday, in Burnham Pavilion.

Stanford (2-6, 1-0 MPSF) held Jessup (2-4, 0-1 MPSF) to .191 hitting – the lowest by a Cardinal opponent this season.

Outside hitter Theo Snoey led Stanford with 12 kills on .375 hitting to go with four digs and a block. Opposite Moses Wagner added 11 kills on a .474 attack percentage, four digs and four blocks.

Setter Theoren Brouillette controlled the offense with 40 assists. The senior also notched three digs and a kill. Sophomore libero Evan Porter collected a team-high seven digs.

Middle blocker Luke McFall hit a season-high .667 with eight kills on 12 errorless swings and tallied three blocks. Outside hitter Alex Rottman, the reigning MPSF Defensive Player of the Week, finished with eight kills, four digs and six blocks. The Santa Barbara native also recorded Stanford’s lone ace of the night.

Sophomore Kaumana Carreira posted a match-high seven blocks – tied for the most by a Stanford player this season.

Stanford is back in action on Saturday against UC Merced. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Burnham Pavilion.
