PDF Box Score Highlights

PITTSBURGH – Lara Somfai had herself a night and Stanford snapped a four-game losing streak with an 86-65 victory at Pittsburgh on Thursday.

The Cardinal freshman went for 15 points, 23 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and three blocks, becoming just the second player in NCAA history with those numbers in available records dating back to 2002-03 and the only freshman. Illinois-Chicago’s Ruvanna Campbell had the exact same line against Northern Illinois on Nov. 17, 2014.

Somfai’s 23 boards are an ACC freshman record, the most by any freshman in the country this season, and the most for any ACC player since Sarah Imovbioh (Virginia) had 24 against Ohio State on Nov. 14, 2014. Her rebounding total is tied for third in Stanford history, trailing only 24-rebound performances from Cameron Brink at Oregon State on Feb. 29, 2024 and Chiney Ogwumike against Oregon on Feb. 24, 2013.

Somfai's six double-doubles this season are the most for a Stanford freshman since Chiney Ogwumike had a school-record 11 in 2010-11.

Juniors Chloe Clardy and Courtney Ogden played the full 40 minutes, Clardy scoring a season-high 26 on a career-best six made 3-pointers, and Ogden going for 23. Ogden had seven assists and Clardy four. Hailee Swain scored a career-high 16.

The Cardinal had season highs in assists (21) and 3-pointers made (12).

Stanford was up 48-45 coming out of a timeout midway through the third quarter when Clardy stole an inbounds pass and made a driving layup to ignite an 11-1 run. Ogden nailed a pull-up jumper with 48 seconds left in the period to end the spurt and push the Cardinal lead to 59-46.

Stanford had eight straight makes to begin the fourth quarter and Ogden had seven consecutive makes of her own across the third and fourth periods.

The Cardinal closes out its road trip at Georgia Tech on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET.
