Cardinal Captures Fourth Straight Conference Victory Over Pitt

Stanford sweeps event titles and sets season-best home score

STANFORD, Calif. — A sweep of the event titles and a season-best home score led Stanford to its fourth consecutive conference victory Friday night, topping No. 33 Pittsburgh 197.100-194.650 inside Maples Pavilion.

Senior Anna Roberts won her fourth straight all-around crown with a combined total of 39.325. Freshman Summer Gronski earned her first collegiate event title with a 9.875 on vault, while redshirt freshman Levi Jung-Ruivivar captured both the bars and floor titles with career-best scores of 9.950. Junior Sienna Robinson claimed the beam title with a 9.875, continuing her streak of winning at least one event title in each meet this season.

Stanford started its night on vault, posting a team total of 49.050, led by Gronski’s title-winning performance. For the fifth consecutive meet, Gronski matched or set a career best, scoring 9.875 in the second spot of the lineup. She was followed by a 9.825 from sophomore Ui Soma and a 9.800 from senior Taralyn Nguyen. Roberts added a 9.750 in the fifth position, and sophomore Jaime Dugan made her vault debut, contributing a 9.800 in the anchor spot.

After one rotation, Stanford led 49.050-48.625.

The Cardinal continued on bars, posting its second-best bars rotation of the season with a total of 49.425, led by Jung-Ruivivar’s title-winning leadoff routine of 9.950. Robinson and Roberts each scored 9.900, while freshman Ana Bărbosu added a 9.850. Soma and senior Ava Sorrento each earned matching scores of 9.825.

Stanford extended its lead to 98.475-97.325 halfway through the meet.

The beam rotation was highlighted by Robinson’s winning score of 9.875, contributing to a team total of 49.100. Fellow junior Temple Landry scored 9.850, while senior Claire Dean led off with a 9.825. Roberts and Soma each added 9.775 to round out the scoring routines.

Stanford’s lead increased to 147.525-146.250 after three rotations.

The Cardinal’s best rotation came at the end of the meet, closing with a season-best floor total of 49.525. Jung-Ruivivar achieved her second 9.950 of the night to win the floor title, while sophomore Alana Walker followed with a collegiate-best 9.925. Roberts anchored the event with a 9.900, and Dean and Nguyen each scored 9.875 in the leadoff and fifth spots of the lineups.

Stanford will head on the road for its next three meets, starting in Fort Worth, Texas, for a Valentine’s Day quad meet against No. 6 Georgia, No. 20 California, and No. 43 Air Force. The quad at the Metroplex Challengeis set for a 5:15 p.m. PT start and will be streamed on Meet Scores Online.
