ALBUQUEQUE, N.M. - Another weekend in Albuquerque is in the books for Stanford track & field, as the Cardinal field athletes highlighted the weekend at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
A pair of jumpers paced the Cardinal, as Alyssa Jones and Xavier Drumgoole each earned event victories. Jones, who celebrated her 22nd birthday, captured the women's long jump title with a season-best 6.64m (21' 9½"), her second long jump title at the Albuquerque Convention Center this season after also winning at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational earlier this season.
Drumgoole continued his strong indoor season by winning the men's triple jump with an indoor career-best of 15.97m. The mark moves Drumgoole into sole possession of No. 2 on Stanford’s all-time indoor Top-10 list, after previously jumping a 15.94m, also at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational.
The Cardinal saw two new top-10 marks on the women's side of the triple jump, led by Alaysia Oakes' third-place finish with a new indoor personal best of 12.74m to improve upon her No. 6 ranking in program history. Samantha Ennin finished just behind with a fifth-place mark of 12.69m, breaking into the Stanford Top-10 list at No. 7.
Catherine Littlewood impressed in her first collegiate penathlon, posting the tenth-best score of 3,455 points to finish seventh in the meet. A consistent effort across the board, Littlewood's pentathlon was highlighted by fourth-place finishes in the high jump (1.58m) and 800m (2:26.52).
On the track, Ryce Reynolds clocked a personal-best 21.34 to move into sixth all-time in program history in the 200 meters, while Gabriel Ajaegbu ran 21.53 to improve upon his own No. 10 time. Reynolds becomes the third Cardinal sprinter to break into the Stanford Indoor Top 10, joining Ajaegbu and Zachary Ryan.
Stanford will split next weekend, sending competitors to both the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque and the Husky Classic in Seattle.
