STANFORD, Calif. – Eight Cardinal fencers earned invites to this month’s NCAA Championships, the most from the program since the 2016-17 season. Reigning women’s foil NCAA Champion Arianna Cao headlines the list, which features six first-time selections.
Cao earned the trip to NCAAs after dominant 2025-26 season, going 57-15 and winning the ACC women’s foil crown last month. The junior advances to NCAAs for the third time in three tries since coming to The Farm.
Joining Cao as a returner to the final site is Sanjay Kasi. The senior earned his third NCAA Championship nod in men’s foil after a 58-19 season.
Fellow senior Erika Yong qualified in women’s saber, after a 33-16 season and second-place finish at NCAA Western Regionals. Sophia Chin, who finished just ahead of Yong in the weapon at Western Regionals, qualified as well after going 46-27.
Rounding out the Cardinal qualifiers is a standout group of four freshmen. Julian Goor qualified in men’s foil, Robert Wang in men’s saber, Tanishka Padhye in women’s epee and Ruoxi Sun in women’s foil.
Sun and Wang each enter the competition coming off Western Regional first-place finishes.
Last season, the Card finished ninth at NCAAs in the program’s best team finish since finishing ninth in 2014.
Competition gets under way next week, running from March 19-22 at Notre Dame.
