Three Card to Compete at NCAA Indoors

Alyssa Jones, Sophia Kennedy and Juliette Whittaker chase NCAA titles this weekend

STANFORD, Calif. -  The indoor track & field season comes to a close this weekend, as three Cardinal head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The championship fields include the top 16 performers in each individual event and the top 12 best groups in the relay events. Start lists for the NCAA Championships are final except for medical scratches.

Alyssa Jones, a preseason Watch List honoree for The Bowerman, heads to Randal Tyson Track Center slated to compete in both the high jump and the long jump. Seeded in the top-five in both events, Jones is looking for her first career NCAA title after finishing third in the long jump in last season's championships.

Last time out, Jones repeated as the ACC indoor high jump champion with a 1.86m clearance and finished second in the long jump (6.38m) at the conference meet, earning the ACC Women's Field MVP for the second consecutive season.

The nation's eighth-fastest woman in the 5000 meters, Sophia Kennedy heads to her third national indoor meet looking to improve upon her fifth-place finish in the 5000m at last year's NCAA Championships. Kennedy set an all-conditions lifetime best of 15.07.90 at the Husky Classic earlier this season, improving upon her previous career mark by nearly three seconds.

Juliette Whittaker heads to the NCAA Championships looking for her third 800m national title after sweeping both the indoor and outdoor races in 2024. Coming into the meet seeded third with a 1:59.76, Whittaker is coming off an exciting ACC Championship victory in which she held off Clemson's Gladys Chepngetich in a photo finish at the line.
