Two Advance to NCAAs

Grubbs and Andriyuk land top finishes in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Stanford sent three divers to the 2026 NCAA Zone E Championships, hosted by Northern Arizona University, taking place from March 9-11. It was a strong week for the Card, resulting in high scores and a pair of divers advancing to the NCAA Championship in five events.

Misha Andriyuk is the only current Cardinal diver with any NCAA Zone E experience, competing in and winning the platform dive last year as a freshman. He did not win in 2026, but he finished second, more than enough to secure a spot in Atlanta for the NCAA Championship. His cumulative score over 12 dives was 747.85, including a 398.00 in the finals, where he put himself in contention for the win. Three of his dives in the finals were the top scores of the round, including an Armstand Back 2 Somersault 2 ½ Twist Free with a degree of difficulty of 3.6 that scored 81.00 in his second dive.

Andriyuk also qualified for the NCAA Championship on the springboard in 3-meter, his first qualification on the springboard. He placed sixth with a 12-dive total of 706.00, including a 368.80 in the prelims. His final dive is what vaulted him to the NCAAs, leading the pack with a Forward 4 ½ Somersault Tuck that scored 77.90.

Gunnar Grubbs is advancing to Atlanta and will dive in all three championship events: 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform. He first qualified in the 3-meter finals on Monday night with a 373.35 in the finals, finishing in the top-four in three of the six rounds. His fourth dive was his best, finishing first in the round with a Back 2 ½ Somersault Pike, scoring 66.00 points.

Grubbs also finished third on the platform and seventh in 1-meter diving to secure his spot in all three championship events. Grubbs held the lead in the platform prelims through six dives with a score of 381.95, a new career best.

Despite not locking down a spot in Atlanta, Grant Schneider advanced to the finals in both 3-meter and platform diving, the two events he competed in. Schneider was 14th overall in the 3-meter prelims with a 328.75 and tenth in the platform prelims with a 335.80, a position he held in the finals.

The whole Stanford men’s swimming and diving program will regroup at Georgia Tech for the 2026 NCAA Championship on March 25-28.
