BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 10 Stanford clinched the program’s first-ever regular-season ACC title Friday evening, topping No. 16 California and San Jose State at the California Tri Meet held at Haas Pavilion.
The Cardinal led the way with a team total of 197.625, followed by the Golden Bears with a score of 197.075 and San Jose State with a final tally of 196.175.
Senior Anna Roberts won the all-around competition with a total of 39.550, while sophomore Ui Soma captured the vault title with a score of 9.925 and freshman Ana Bărbosu won the beam title with a 9.925.
Stanford kicked off the night on bars with a team score of 49.425. Redshirt freshman Levi Jung-Ruivivar started the rotation with a score of 9.850, followed by junior Sienna Robinson with a 9.925 in the third position of the lineup. Roberts scored a 9.900 in fourth place, while Bărbosu and Soma each posted scores of 9.875 to round out the rotation.
On beam, the Cardinal scored a team total of 49.375, led by Bărbosu’s event-title winning 9.925. Senior Claire Dean led off on beam with a score of 9.825, setting the stage for others, as junior Temple Landy posted a 9.875 and fellow junior Robinson followed with a 9.850. Roberts and Bărbosu capped the rotation, scoring 9.900 and 9.925, respectively.
On floor, Jung-Ruivivar led off her second event of the night with a 9.900, contributing the highest score of the Cardinal’s 49.375 team total alongside anchor sophomore Alana Walker. In the second position, Robinson scored 9.875, while senior Taralyn Nguyen added a 9.825 and Roberts scored 9.875. Walker anchored the rotation with her 9.900.
Vault produced the best team total of the night, as Stanford posted a 49.450 counting only scores above 9.875. Soma’s title-winning 9.925 came in the fourth position of the lineup, while Roberts, sophomore Jaime Dugan, and freshman Summer Gronski each posted scores of 9.875. Nguyen completed the event with a score of 9.900, marking her fourth score of 9.900 or better this season.
The Cardinal heads back to The Farm for a quick turnaround before their next competition, hosting the Boise State Broncos Sunday, March 15 for Senior Day. The matchup between Boise State and Stanford is set for a 2 p.m. start and will be streamed on ACCNX.
