No. 19 Stanford (18-8, 8-4) is set for a busy week on the road, taking on East Carolina on Wednesday before a three-game series against Duke Friday through Sunday. 

The Cardinal is coming off of a three-game sweep at North Carolina, outscoring the Tar Heels 30-14. Duke enters the weekend second in the ACC at 8-1 in conference play, and 22-10 overall


Bounceback Weekend // Stanford took a series sweep at North Carolina last weekend, after dropping an ACC series at home to Notre Dame the weekend prior. The Card entered the weekend slashing .326/.403/.545 as a team, and finished the series in Chapel Hill hitting .423/.500/.773 with 30 runs scored and three wins.

Closing in on History // Allister won her 300th career game at Stanford last month, entering this weekend at 308-152 in her ninth season as the head coach of her alma mater

  • Allister also owns a 598-259 career record, including her time as the head coach at Minnesota. Two more wins will give her 600 career victories.

Zoe PryStrikeout in the rankings // Zoe Prystajko has been electric to start 2026, earning NFCA DI and ACC Pitcher of the Week honors two weeks ago.

  • Prystajko leads the ACC in strikeouts (112), strikeouts per 7 IP (10.5), hits allowed per 7 IP (3.39), WHIP (0.83) and saves (3). Her strikeouts-to-walk ratio is second in the conference as well at 4.31.
  • The strikeouts per 7, hits allowed per 7 and saves are all in the top-10 nationally as well. The 112 strikeouts are 12th-best.
  • Additionally, the sophomore leads the Cardinal in appearances (18), starts (8), IP (75.1), ERA (2.04) and victories (9).

No Sophomore Slump // Prystajko has made a significant jump in her second season on The Farm, seeing marked improvement across nearly every stat.

  • After entering 2026 with a single-game best of eight strikeouts, the sophomore has reached that mark seven times in 2026.
  • In 2025, Prystajko struck out 5.4 batters per seven innings. In 2026, that rate is nearly double at 10.5.
  • Prystajko has already surpassed her strikeout total from last season (74) in 21.1 fewer innings.
  • Last season, Prystajko posted a 5.00 ERA in 96.2 IP. Through 75.1 innings of 2026, the left-handed hurler has cut it in half at 2.04.
  • 2025 batters hit .249 with a .469 slugging percentage off Prystajko. In 2026, opposing hitters are having significantly less success at .146 and .265.

Taryn Torching // Taryn Kern has been on a tear to start the season, doing it all for the Card in the leadoff spot. Last weekend at North Carolina, Kern went 7-for-9  with eight runs scored, three RBI and four extra-base hits.

  • Kern has posted a .443/.562/.987 slash line through 23 games, good for a staggering 1.549 OPS, all of which leads the Cardinal.
  • The slugging and on-base percentages are both third-best in the ACC, and the batting average is ninth-best.
  • Kern's 35th career home run last week pushed her out of a tie and into sole possession of the fifth-most in program history.
  • The leadoff hitter leads the team in runs scored with 34, as well as RBI with 28 and doubles with 10.
  • Kern averages 1.12 RBI per game as well as 1.36 runs per game, both of which are in the top 10 in the ACC.
  • Including her freshman season at Indiana, Kern's 58 home runs are the fourth-most in the country among active players.
  • Again including her numbers from Indiana, Kern leads all active DI players in both walks (163) and hit by pitch (65).
  • The senior earned the first ACC Player of the Week award of the season for her efforts.

Farm Fresh // Addyson Sheppard has made an immediate impact in her first collegiate action, emerging as a strong right-handed bat for the Cardinal.

  • Sheppard is fourth on the team in batting average with a .357 clip.
  • The freshman is second on the team in home runs (5), and third in RBI (21).
  • Sheppard earned the first ACC Freshman of the Week award of the season in week one, then earned Co-Freshman of the Week honors in week two.
  • Sheppard has picked up a hit in 18 of her first 26 NCAA games, and multiple hits in nine.

Keeping up With Kyra // Kyra Chan has been a balanced bat in the Cardinal order, sitting in the top three in a variety of offensive categories.

  • Chan is slashing .405/.490/.722 for a 1.211 OPS. All four marks are second-most on the team.
  • The senior is also second on the team in hits (32), runs scored (25), doubles (9) and walks (15).

EJ Heating Up // Emily Jones has been on a hot streak as of late, currently riding a seven-game hitting streak.

  • Last weekend, Jones went 7-for-10 with seven runs scored, three extra-base hits and three RBI in three games at North Carolina.
  • In her last 10 games, Jones is slashing .417/.436/.778. In those 10 games, the senior has scored 13 runs, driving in nine as well.
