STANFORD, Calif. — For the first time since 2019, the Stanford men’s golf team won on home soil, shooting 6-under par on the final day to claim the team championship at the 2026 The Goodwin on Saturday. The win is Stanford’s 17th championship as a team at The Goodwin while the Cardinal earned its second win of the 2025-26 season shooting 17-under par across the three-day tournament.
Entering the final day one shot off the team lead, Stanford was clinical in its chase of the leaders alongside them off the tee, turning in a morning-wave best at 6-under. Edan Cui started the morning wave for the Cardinal, turning in a 3-over performance on Saturday as the reserve score. Cui earned his lone birdie of the afternoon on hole two to end his tournament at 6-over.
Stanford’s third-round surge was catapulted by Ethan Gao and Nathan Wang who both shot 1-under, 69 for the day. Gao went 2-under through the front nine while earning clinical par’s on his final five holes to put Stanford in contention. Gao placed tied for 26th at 1-under for the tournament.
Nathan Wang was third off the tee for Stanford and battled an up-and-down round that saw him earn five birdies. Wang hit the turn at even-par having earned three birdies through nine holes on the day including two birdies bookending a double-bogey on hole eight. The senior ended his final The Goodwin tournament with a clinical finish in the back nine, earning two birdies as he ended the tournament at 2-under par in a tie for 19th place.
Stanford’s penultimate golfer started where left off yesterday as Dean Greyserman turned in a 2-under performance with three birdies. The senior hit the turn with his best performance on the front nine at 3-under before bouncing back from a birdie on hole 10 with eight holes of perfect golf to keep Stanford in control of the team lead late in the afternoon. Greyserman ended the tournament at 5-under par and tied for eighth overall.
Jay Leng was last off the tee on Saturday and held serve with the leaders from the other contending teams, earning a 2-under, 68 during the final round. Leng snatched one of his three birdies on the front nine before a perfect back nine secured the team championship for the Cardinal. Leng ended the tournament at 7-under and tied for third place overall.
Golfing individually, Stanford earned strong performances from TK Chantananuwat, Cooper Stearns and Kush Arora on the final day. Chantananuwat rattled off three birdies during Saturday’s round, finishing the tournament at 8-over. Arora finished his tournament with a battle throughout the third round highlighted by a hole in one on hole 17 while Stearns earned his best collegiate round with his first round in the 60s, ending the day at 1-under par.
Stanford is back in action on Monday, April 13 for the first round of The Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif.
