STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford topped Pitt tonight 8-2 to move to 12-6 on the season and 2-2 in ACC play, scoring four runs in the last two innings to secure the win. The outburst was the 11th time this season the Card has scored seven or more runs in a game, including each of the last three games.
Pitt scored first, bringing a run home on an RBI triple in the top of the second inning. The Cardinal answered back quickly, taking the lead in the home half of the inning on a two-run single by Taryn Kern.
Stanford plated two more in the bottom of the third, both coming on a home run from Addyson Sheppard. The freshman’s long ball was her fourth of the season, second on the team behind Kern’s six.
