No. 7 Stanford Set for NCAA Semifinals Showdown in Fort Worth

Cardinal takes on No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Florida, and No. 6 Georgia, seeking spot in championships finals

  • No. 7 Stanford will make its second NCAA Championship semifinals appearance in the last three seasons on Thursday, April 16, facing No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Florida and No. 6 Georgia for one of two spots at the NCAA Championship Final, set for April 18.
  • The semifinal matchup between the Cardinal, Tigers, Gators and Bulldogs is set for 3:30 p.m. Central time (1:30 p.m. Pacific) on ESPN2, with John Roethlisberger, Samantha Peszek and Aly Raisman on the call. In addition, two team streams are available on ESPN+, paired based on how the teams are alternating in the Double Dual. Any individuals scheduled to compete will be shown on that team’s stream.
  • Stanford will begin the meet on floor; LSU starts on vault, Florida begins on bars and Georgia kicks off the competition on beam. The Cardinal will also rotate with four individual event specialists: Clemson's Brie Clark on floor, Ohio State's Cameron Smith on vault, Michigan's Sophia Diaz on bars and the Wolverines' Carly Bauman on beam.
  • No. 7 Stanford clinched a spot at the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship in Fort Worth, Texas, with a second-place finish at the NCAA Regional Final in Baton Rouge, La., April 4. Host No. 2 LSU won the meet with a 197.825. Stanford finished second with a team total of 197.225, while No. 15 Clemson finished third with a score of 197.150 and No. 10 Michigan placed fourth with a team total of 196.750. The Cardinal secured second place with a clutch vault rotation. Stanford was in fourth place halfway through the meet and was tied with No. 15 Clemson heading into the final rotation. In the final rotation, Stanford and Clemson were tied through each team’s first four routines. A 9.850 from senior Anna Roberts and a second consecutive meet with a 9.950 vault from senior Taralyn Nguyen helped Stanford edge the Tigers by 0.075.
  • Stanford is making its 18th appearance at the national championship meet. The last time the Cardinal advanced to the Super Six/Four on the Floor was in the 2015 season. That team entered the postseason ranked No. 13 in the nation and had a season-high score of 197.525, compared to this year's squad that began the postseason as the No. 7 seed and had a season-high score of 198.150.
  • The Cardinal starting on floor at NCAA Semifinals Session I will be the first time the program has kicked off a quad meet on floor since March 10, 2023, when Stanford started the Haas Quad Meet against then-No. 7 California, No. 15 Ohio State and No. 47 Utah State on floor. The Cardinal, then ranked No. 20, upset the Buckeyes by more than a point with a season-best road total of 197.400.
