PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Four Top-10 finishes highlighted a monumental first day for the Stanford men’s golf team at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Men’s Golf Championships held at Shark’s Tooth Golf Course on Thursday as the Cardinal grabbed an early 10-stroke lead over the field. Stanford shot 13-under for the day including two Cardinal who went 4-under to take a commanding lead heading into Friday’s second round.
Fresh off a win at The Western Intercollegiate, Dean Greyserman joined teammate Edan Cui near the top of the leaderboard with both Cardinal turning in a 4-under, 68 card after 18 holes. Greyserman grabbed four of his seven birdies on the round along the front nine as he hit the turn at 1-under. The senior then went clean along the back nine, ending the day on a positive with his seventh - and final - birdie of the day on the par-four hole 18 to end the day at 4-under and tied for second overall.
Cui shot the best of any Cardinal along the front nine, hitting the turn at 3-under following a string of three-straight birdies from holes six through eight. Cui ended his afternoon with just one bogey coupled with five birdies to turn in a 68 and tie with Greyserman for second overall as both golfers sit two shots off the individual lead.
Nathan Wang turned in a top five outing as well, shooting a 3-under, 69 during Wednesday’s opening round. Wang hit the turn with a 35 on the scorecard having tallied three birdies along the front nine before clawing out four birdies on the back nine. A blip on hole 15 saw him go 2-under on the back nine as the senior sits one shot behind his counterparts with his 3-under slotting him tied for fifth overall.
Jay Leng finished as the final scorer for Stanford as the sophomore slots inside the top 10. Leng turned in two birdies on his front nine scorecard, hitting the turn with a 35. The sophomore then cashed in on a generous hole 13 that every scoring golfer for Stanford birdies before nabbing his last of four birdies on hole 14. Leng ended the day at 2-under as he sits tied for ninth overall.
Cooper Stearns also shot well for the Cardinal as the reserve score, snatching three birdies on the afternoon. Stearns turned in a 4-over, 76 in his first run at the ACC Championships, grabbing his three birdies along a four hole stretch near the turn. Stearns sits just outside the top 50 tied for 51st.
Stanford is back in action tomorrow morning for the second round of the ACC Championships on Friday, April 24. Cooper Stearns leads off for the Cardinal from hole 10 at 9:50 a.m. CT / 7:50 a.m. PT.
