STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford men’s swimming and diving landed four Academic All-America selections from College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced on Wednesday morning.
Josh Zuchowski was named a First Team Academic All-American, Henry McFadden and Liam Custer landed on the second team, and Andres Dupont Cabrera earned third team honors. This gives Stanford at least three Academic All-Americans for four consecutive seasons and at least one every season since 2021. With four, Stanford ties a program record for most Academic All-Americans in one year (2023).
Zuchowski became an ACC champion for the first time in his career with a win in the 400 IM, setting a major PR with the third-fastest time in Stanford history (3:38.58). He also set the school record in the 200 back (1:38.33) and now holds the second-fastest 200 fly time (1:40.63), all set during the postseason. Zuchowski earned second-team All-America status twice at the NCAA Championships and did all of this while maintaining a 3.88 grade point average as an economics major.
McFadden was named the ACC Men’s Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year after repeating a stellar postseason. He repeated as ACC champion in the 200 free and added an 800 free relay championship to his belt. He earned first team All-America status at the NCAA Championship in both, finishing third in the 200 free with a school record 1:30.13, and helped set the new program record in the 800 free relay with the Cardinal finishing second overall, the team’s best finish in over a decade. He holds a 3.78 GPA as a computer science major and is honored by CSC for the second time in his career.
Custer earned second-team honors for the second consecutive season, holding a 3.70 grade point average as a management science & engineering major. He finished seventh at the NCAA Championship in the 1650 free with a time of 14:37.28, a season best. He became a first-team All-American for the first time in his career. Along with McFadden, they are two of the four repeat Academic All-Americans in the country.
Dupont Cabrera joined McFadden on the 800 free relay team that posted a 6:06.39 to finish runner-up at the NCAA Championship. It was one of three All-America honors for the senior, majoring in economics, who finishes his Stanford career with eight All-America nods. He also set career-bests in the 50 free and 100 free over the course of the season. Dupont Cabrera holds a 3.63 grade point average.
