Revuelta Runner-Up at Augusta

Three Cardinal finish in the top 10

AUGUSTA, Ga. — A magical week at the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur came to a close on Saturday with the final round, played at historic Augusta National Golf Club. Three Cardinal advanced to the final round and a right to compete for the prestigious amateur championship, and all three made their mark. Stanford landed three in the top 10, a first for one college since the creation of the event in 2019.

Entering Saturday’s final round, Stanford saw Meja Örtengren sitting in second, just one stroke off the lead, with Andrea Revuelta lurking four strokes back of the lead. By the end of the final round, they flipped on the leaderboard, with Revuelta moving into outright second place, while Örtengren dropped into a five-player tie for fourth.

Revuelta posted a 4-under 68 in the final round, tied for the lowest of the day and representing the best score a Cardinal has posted in the final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Her day began with a bogey on the first hole, but she finished the day 5-under over the final 17 holes.

She made her charge towards the top on the last nine, when she recorded three consecutive birdies on holes 11-13, including a near ace on 12 that lipped out of the cup. For reference, only three hole-in-ones have been recorded on that hole in the history of The Master’s, and none since 1988. Revuelta moved four strokes back of the lead after that stretch of birdies, but could never get closer than three strokes back.

Revuelta’s second-place finish is her second top five in the event (tied for fourth last year). Only Rose Zhang, who won the event in 2023, has done better at Augusta than Revuelta.

Örtengren remained neck-and-neck with the leaders on the first nine, compiling four birdies while playing 2-under through nine. Her last nine is where the round began to slip away, with four bogeys, including consecutive bogeys on 11 and 12. Despite the finish, she ended her day with a 74, her best round at Augusta National Golf Club since the 2022 final round, and by tying for fourth, she earned her best career finish at ANWA.

One of the best early rounds of the day came from Paula Martín Sampedro, who entered the day seven strokes back of the lead. While never in contention to win, she put together an incredibly consistent final round, finishing with a 3-under 69. She got off to a fast start, with birdies on one and two, and only had one bogey in the entire round.

Martín Sampedro used her second round in the 60s on the week to move all the up to outright ninth, joining her teammates in the top 10. She is also one of just four golfers in the entire field to finish better than par across all three rounds (71-69-69).

The defending NCAA individual champion, Maria Jose Marin, won the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur with a 4-under 68 in the final round, finishing at 14-under for the tournament, a new ANWA scoring record.
