Jones, Scatchard Earn Weekly ACC Honors

The Cardinal duo impressed in the Stanford Invitational last weekend

STANFORD, Calif. - The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced its conference honors this week on Tuesday afternoon, with the Cardinal earning a pair of selections.

Mena Scatchard was tabbed as the ACC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while Alyssa Jones garnered ACC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Making her outdoor debut for the Cardinal, Scatchard delivered an impressive weekend with a pair of performances that rank among the top 10 in Stanford program history. The Princeton transfer captured the 800-meter title with a 2:00.50, which ranks first nationally this season. She also finished as the runner-up in the 1500 meters, clocking 4:09.2, good for No. 2 on Stanford’s all-time list.

Jones posted a nation-leading mark of 6.83m to win the long jump event title, breaking the Stanford Invitational record for the second consecutive season. She also helped Stanford’s 4x100-meter relay team to a victory and recorded the fastest 100-meter time of the meet in the prelims, clocking 11.35 seconds.

Stanford returns to action for the Big Meet vs. California on April 11 at Cobb Track & Angell Field.
