Xu Chosen for Curtis Cup

First Cardinal since 2022 to represent the USA

LIBERTY CORNER, N.J. — Stanford women’s golf senior Kelly Xu has been selected by the United States Golf Association (USGA) to represent the United States in the 2026 Curtis Cup.

“Representing the United States in the Curtis Cup is an incredible honor, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be part of this team,” said Xu in a release via the USGA. “The Curtis Cup has such a rich history in amateur golf, and I’m excited to compete alongside this amazing group of teammates while representing our country on an international stage.”

The 2026 Curtis Cup takes place on June 12-14 at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles. Xu will join seven of the best amateur golfers from the United States, including the top-ranked World Amateur, Kiara Romero (Oregon).

Xu has put together an outstanding career on The Farm. The senior from Claremont has the third-lowest all-time scoring average in Stanford history (71.50) and is a two-time All-American. She helped Stanford win conference championships in 2024 and 2026, while playing a crucial role in Stanford’s 2024 NCAA team championship. She is 7-1 in match play at the NCAA Championship in her career, tied for the most match play wins in NCAA history.

Stanford has a long tradition of Cardinal at the Curtis Cup, but has not had a selection since 2022, when four Cardinal were on that year’s United States team: Megha Ganne, Rachel Heck, Brooke Seay, and Rose Zhang. Xu becomes the 16th different Cardinal in the Curtis Cup, comprising 29 total appearances going back to Anne Quast Sander in 1958.

The Curtis Cup is contested biennially between teams of eight female amateur golfers representing the United States and Great Britain & Ireland, which is comprised of England, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The USA Team is selected by the USGA’s Team Selection Committee, while the GB&I side is chosen by The R&A
