Third-Straight Sailor of the Year for Lahrkamp

Senior earns honor in unanimous fashion for second-straight season

For the third-straight year, Vanessa Lahrkamp has been named Quantum Women's Sailor of the Year. The senior has continued a dominant career this season, winning the award in unanimous fashion for the second-straight season to become the first-ever recipient of the award in three consecutive seasons.

“Vanessa is a winner but she's also a thoughtful competitor. She's always considered new approaches and different ideas despite a solid foundation of success," said head coach Chris Klevan. "On top of that she's a caring teammate. At this point, there is no way to separate what it means to be a Stanford sailor and what she means to our team. To win this award, every year but her first, is absolutely astounding, and I think she would agree, is a testament to our program and those she works with daily. It's been a privilege to work with her for four years.”

Lahrkamp earned the award after a fourth-straight ICSA Women's Fleet Race title. The senior's lengthy resume features four titles in womens fleet race, two in open fleet race and two in women's team race. She has been named ICSA All-America Women's and Open Skipper three times each for a total of six All-America nods so far.

Lahrkamp and the Cardinal are looking for a third national title of the season this week, still competing at the ICSA Open Fleet Race in St. Petersburg, Florida.
